Abigail Barnard is the winner of the $10,000 North End Post 144, Paul A. Spera Past Commander-in-Chief Award U.S. Savings Bond for writing the First Place winning essay in the organization’s National Patriot’s Pen Competition. Abigail is an 8th grade student. Abigail was sponsored by VFW Post 7385, Mesquite, Nevada. (First place winner will receive her savings bond and a trophy during a special luncheon in Washington, D.C. on March 7, 2010 )

We Would like to Thank Laughlin for Hosting our Mid Winter Department of Nevada Convention it was a blast.
On January 30th 2010 the Silver State Post 3396 was honored for reaching 100% in Membership - the commander received a National Commander in Chief belt buckle along with a certificate. The other greatest news was our Law Enforcement and Fire Department entry won First in the Department of Nevada. We are very proud of our local Heros and are honored to be able to present the award winners with the National Citation for Law Enforcement and Fire. Another great event was the Scholarship banquet for the Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen awards presentation. I would like to congratulate District 4 for Winning this years Voice of Democracy Competition - The Silver State post winner Colt Williams received 4th in the State Competition and our own Patriot Pen Winner came in 4th. Very proud for all the participants.
We were honored to hear from John Stroud, Candidate for National Junior Vice Commander-in-Chief for 2012 he just returned from visits in the Western Conference. The post is wishing him all the best in running for National Junior Vice Commander_in_Chief.
